Jon Stewart plastic gun

Typically, when we make fun of Piers Morgan’s talk show, it’s America’s Got Talent alum Piers Morgan we’re making fun of. But with the arrival of firearms advocate Alex Jones, we have a new target. Alex Jones recently went nuts on Piers Morgan Tonight and, true to form, the political pundits have jumped on Jones’ now viral rant.

On Monday night, radio host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones shocked (and entertained) us all by throwing accusation after accusation at Piers Morgan. According to Alex, Piers is “a hatchet man of the new world order,” and in general, the cause of all that is wrong with America. After our surprise surrounding the angry rant wore off, we got to wondering: what would the political pundits and comedians have to say about all this?

Jon Stewart was one of the first to step up for the not-so-hard job of mocking Alex Jones. He included a clip of Alex’s meltdown in a lengthy bit about the gun control discussion. Before introducing Alex to the mix, he complained of America’s unwillingness to consider gun control as an option for reducing violence. Following a plethora of clips featuring pundits worrying about sharia law, Jon Stewart surprised the audience by brandishing a plastic gun.

Finally, the moment that the audience had been waiting for arrived: Jon’s reaction to Alex Jones’ meltdown. After hearing Jones claim that 1776 was about to return, Jon responded, “No one’s taking away all the guns…Now I see what’s happening. So this is what it is. Their paranoid fear of a possible dystopic future prevents us from addressing our actual dystopic present”

So, who do you agree with: Piers Morgan or Alex Jones? Or does your opinion fall somewhere in the middle? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
