Rex Ryan tattoo: woman wearing Sanchez jersey, possibly 'Tebowing

Well, we already knew that. Remember that lower leg art proudly displayed by the New York Jets coach during training camp last year?

Rex Ryan thinks highly of Mark Sanchez.

Frustrated Jets fans already knew that too, as most of them had been pleading for Ryan to bench the struggling quarterback long before he finally did late in the season.

Rex Ryan may not think too highly of Tim Tebow, at least as a player.

We kinda deduced that a long time ago too. Ryan barely used the multidimensional athlete all year and promoted third-stringer Greg McElroy over Tebow when finally giving Sanchez the hook.

Rex Ryan has a tattoo of a woman wearing nothing but a Sanchez jersey. That woman, who some feel resembles Ryan's wife, appears to be kneeling in a pose made famous by Tebow (a.k.a. Tebowing).

OK, this is getting a little more interesting.

The New York Daily News posted a photo Friday of a topless Ryan sunbathing in Paradise Island, Bahamas. Visible on his right arm are two tattoos. One is a shamrock featuring the names of his wife, Michelle, and children, Payton and Seth.

The other is the aforementioned woman wearing Sanchez's No. 6 and either paying tribute to or mocking Tebow. When approached by Daily News reporter about the bizarre ink, Ryan is said to have uttered an expletive before "storming away with his wife."

That might be because the vacation has become a bit controversial since none of the Jets' leaders have been available to the media since their 6-10 season ended Sunday. Ryan and owner Woody Johnson are slated to do so next Tuesday.

The Pro Football Writers Assn. filed a complaint with the NFL, which has a rule stating all teams must make “a top executive” available within a week of their season ending. But the PFWA said Thursday it is "satisfied" the Jets, who fired general manager Mike Tannenbaum on Monday, are following the “spirit of the rules.”

Anyway, back to the tattoo. No telling if it's permanent or not, but even if it's just temporary isn't the timing a bit strange?

Then again, this is Ryan we're talking about.
